The Head of the SBU explains why the Russians wanted to kill Sternenko.

The motives for the assassination attempt on volunteer Sternenko revealed by the Head of the SBU
Lieutenant General Vasyl Maliuk, the head of the Security Service of Ukraine, explained why Russian special services attempted to kill the well-known Ukrainian volunteer Serhiy Sternenko. Among the motives was his active volunteer work and support for principles during the attempted creation of the 'Bessarabian People's Republic' in Odesa in 2014, which Russia failed to carry out.
Maliuk emphasized that Sternenko is a leader among volunteers supplying Ukrainian military with FPV drones. 'Today, Serhiy delivered nearly 200 thousand FPV drones to the frontline for over 600 units,' the head of the SBU stressed.
Another motive for the assassination was the important role of volunteer activities in strengthening the defense capability of the Ukrainian army. The attack occurred on May 2, which held symbolic significance for the enemy, as on that day in 2014, the battle in Odesa took place in an attempt to prevent the formation of the 'Bessarabian People's Republic'.
The head of the SBU emphasized that the main goal from the very beginning of the conflict was to 'catch the Russians at the initial stages of planning and preparing the attack'. Even in the hardest conditions, the Service worked to prevent this crime.
Recently, the Security Service managed to uncover and detain criminals who were planning an assassination attempt on the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky.
In this news, the head of the SBU revealed detailed motives for the assassination attempt on volunteer Sternenko, emphasizing his important role in supplying Ukrainian troops with drones that are crucial for the country's defense capability. The symbolic significance of the date of the attack, related to the events of 2014, was also noted. The actions of the Russian special services indicate their attempt to undermine the defense capability and stability of the Ukrainian state.
