In Ukraine, a third of Internet providers stopped working: reason.

Recently, in Ukraine, almost a third of electronic communications operators providing Internet access stopped working. This was reported by the head of the Verkhovna Rada subcommittee on cybersecurity, Oleksandr Fedienko. The reason for this situation was the prohibition to work under a simplified tax system. Fedienko expressed his concern about the mass shutdown of Internet providers and sent a request to the NCEC to provide statistics.
According to the NCEC, as of October 8, 487 economic entities were removed from the register of electronic communication network providers. A total of 386 applications were also processed. Additionally, it was noted that during August-October 2024, 1316 entities provided information about ceasing activities in the electronic communications sphere in a certain territory. The most closures were in Kyiv and Kyiv region (156) and Cherkasy region (108).
The Office of Effective Regulation, the Internet Association of Ukraine, the Association of Rights Holders and Content Providers, the Analytical Center "Ukrainian Institute of the Future", and the Ukrainian League of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs issued a joint statement calling to stop the illegal actions of the State Tax Service and not allow the cancellation of the simplified tax system for Internet providers.
It is important to note that lifecell and Volia plan to improve the Internet and mobile connection with European funding.
