From April 26 to 29, the Ukrainian Swimming Championship took place in Brovary, resulting in the acquisition of three licenses to participate in the Swimming World Championship in Singapore in 2025. This was reported by the information portal 'Glavkom' citing 'Suspilne Sport'.Participants were able to meet the standards that allow qualifying at least one athlete to participate in the World Championship in three disciplines: 50 meters breaststroke in both women's and men's categories, as well as 50 meters butterfly in the women's category.Stepan Babenko received a license with an 'A' standard in the 50 meters breaststroke, completing the distance in 27.26 seconds.Iryna Miliutina met the 'B' standard in the 50 meters breaststroke in 31.69 seconds. Kateryna Semenova also met the 'B' standard in the 50 meters butterfly in 26.97 seconds.Ukraine will have a full team of two athletes in the 50 meters breaststroke. In addition to Babenko, another swimmer, Volodymyr Lisovets, achieved the 'A' standard in April 2024, swimming the distance in 27.18 seconds.In the disciplines of Miliutina and Semenova, currently, Ukrainian female athletes have the right to declare one athlete who has met the 'B' standard. Until now, only Nika Sharafutdinova has achieved the qualifying standards in swimming backstroke among women.Ukraine will be represented by athletes in 22 disciplines of the Swimming World Championship: 17 men’s and 5 women’s. Eight of them have the 'A' standard.For Ukrainian swimmers to be able to represent the country in one discipline of the World Championship, each of them must have the 'A' standard met.
