Trump discussed the situation at the front in Ukraine with Erdogan

US President Donald Trump had a phone conversation with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan during which they discussed the possibility of joint actions to end the war between Russia and Ukraine. Trump himself reported this on the social network Truth Social.

'I just had a very good and productive phone conversation with Turkish President Recep Erdogan, which touched on many topics, including the war between Russia and Ukraine, everything regarding Syria, Gaza, and much more,' the American leader noted.

During the conversation, Erdogan invited Trump to visit Turkey and informed him about his upcoming visit to Washington. Trump expressed hope for cooperation with the Turkish leader in resolving the conflict between Russia and Ukraine and emphasized that he had previously had good cooperation with him, particularly regarding the release of Pastor Andrew Brunson.

Turkey's position in the international context

Turkey maintains a special status in international relations, trying to keep a balance between supporting Ukraine and cooperating with Russia. It condemned Russian aggression and supports Ukraine's territorial integrity but did not join Western sanctions against Russia. Turkey continues economic cooperation with Russia and supports diplomatic resolutions to the conflict in Donbas.

Such negotiations between Trump and Erdogan may be of significant importance for resolving the conflict in Ukraine and contributing to a peaceful resolution of the situation in Donbas.
