Trump announced the lifting of sanctions on Syria
US President Donald Trump during his speech at an investment forum in Saudi Arabia announced the lifting of sanctions against Syria. He made this announcement during his first major foreign trip in his second term.
'I will give the order to lift sanctions against Syria to give them a chance for greatness,' Trump said
According to Trump, this decision was made after negotiations with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman and Turkish leader Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.
Support for the new government in Syria
The American president also confirmed that he plans to meet with Syrian President Ahmed al-Shara. He noted that a new government has been formed in Syria, which he believes could contribute to stabilizing the country.
'There is a new government in Syria that, hopefully, can stabilize the country and maintain peace,' Trump noted
In addition, Trump's visit to Saudi Arabia resulted in large business deals amounting to 600 billion dollars. The details of these agreements are still being finalized, but they already lay the groundwork for further cooperation.
