The Armed Forces of Ukraine are stopping the Russian offensive in Pokrovsk, where the enemy has concentrated three general military armies.
'The enemy significantly outnumbers us in manpower in this direction. From the east, Russian military forces from the two, forty-first and fifty-first central military districts have attacked our positions. These battles are very fierce as the Russian occupiers use their forces in an attempt to break through our troops' defenses,' - said the spokesperson.
According to Trehubov, the enemy is avoiding a direct assault on the city but is attempting to encircle it from the flanks.
'The enemy is trying not to attack directly on the city of Pokrovsk, but there are currently no battles or enemy sabotage groups. The enemy is trying to maximize its positions to the outskirts of Pokrovsk, breaking through on the left and right flanks of the defense forces to encircle the city itself. Fighting in the city itself is inappropriate, so the enemy is trying to force Ukrainian forces to retreat and avoid a frontal assault,' - explained Trehubov.
