One of the EU countries has started charging for slicing bread in bakeries.

Bakeries in Germany introduce a fee for bread slicing
More and more bakeries are deciding to impose an additional charge for a service that was previously free in German bakeries. The price for slicing bread ranges from 10 to 20 euro cents. The main reasons are rising maintenance costs, inflation, and increasing prices for energy resources, raw materials, and repair work.
Slicing bread requires special equipment, the blades of which need to be regularly cleaned, sharpened, or replaced - this all leads to significant expenses in uncertain economic conditions.
Information about the introduction of the slicing fee in some bakeries has caused surprise and negative emotions among customers. Some consider this fee justified, while others see it as a signal of the gradual disappearance of the normality they are used to.
The situation in Ukraine
It is worth noting that bread prices in Ukraine are lower than in all other European countries. However, purchasing power is also important here. The reduction in the price of wheat flour by 15.4% may affect the future formation of bread prices.
