The most problematic gasoline engines in used cars have been named.

When buying a used car, it is important to choose a model with a reliable engine to avoid future problems. Journalists from SUV News have compiled a ranking of five gasoline engines that are better avoided when purchasing a used vehicle.
Volkswagen 1.4 TSI (EA111)
The engine is characterized by good dynamics but has issues with the chain drive, a tendency to knock, and high oil consumption. The turbocharger also frequently fails. This engine was installed in popular models such as VW Golf, Passat, Jetta, and Skoda Octavia and is considered one of the most problematic in the VAG series.
BMW N43 (1.6 and 2.0)
This engine has problems with the fuel injection system, timing chain set, and misfires. With high maintenance costs, this engine, which was used in BMW Series 1, 3, and 5 until 2011, causes many worries for its drivers.
Ford 1.0 EcoBoost
This engine often overheats due to defects in the water pump, which can lead to coolant loss. The risk of cylinder head gasket failure is also high, and after 120,000-150,000 km, the turbocharger works unreliably. Popular in Ford models Fiesta and Focus, this turbo engine requires attention during use.
Nissan 2.5 QR25DE (2000–2010)
Problems with high oil consumption, low lifespan of the piston assembly, and a tendency to overheat characterize this engine. It was used in Nissan X-Trail, Altima, Sentra, and other models, causing inconveniences for many owners, even though Nissan has a good reputation.
Subaru 2.5 EJ25
Especially in turbo versions, this engine has problems with the cylinder head gasket and pistons with low heat resistance, which can lead to overheating. The temperature and coolant level need to be constantly monitored. After 150,000-200,000 km, this engine requires serious interventions or replacement. It can be found in Subaru Forester, Legacy, and Impreza WRX.
When buying a used vehicle, you should avoid vehicles with the above engines to prevent possible problems and costs in the future.
