The MP responded on how to reduce the number of AWOLs.

Ukrainian people's deputy Georgiy Mazurashu called for a change in the approach to military mobilization to reduce the number of desertions in the units. He believes that the best alternative is quality recruitment instead of mass mobilization.
Alternative to mass mobilization
Mazurashu believes that the focus should be on finding candidates who are genuinely ready and able to defend the motherland both physically and morally. He thinks that individuals who, for various reasons, are not ready to serve in the army can be offered alternatives in the form of employment in the economic sector.
'Only a quality search for those who are truly capable, both physically and morally, to defend the motherland, should yield a positive result. Others, who for various reasons, starting from religious beliefs, are not ready to go to military service and are not willing to defend the motherland with arms in hand, should be utilized in the rear for economic work,' noted the MP.
Earlier, the commander of the 'Georgian Legion' spoke about military personnel who went AWOL. He called for giving them a second chance. The Ministry of Defense stated that military personnel could return from AWOL by the end of summer, and the process of returning has been significantly simplified through the 'Army+' application.
Deputy Mazurashu expressed the idea of quality recruitment of military personnel instead of mass mobilization, emphasizing the importance of finding candidates who are truly ready and capable of defending the motherland. This approach may help reduce the number of AWOLs in the units and ensure the effectiveness of military service.
