Interest in the Tesla brand is growing; however, there have been issues with production and quality control in the past. These problems no longer exist, but caution is advised when selecting used cars, particularly the Model Y, which is popular in Ukraine.

According to Ukrautoprom, in the first half of the year, Ukrainians purchased 30,800 used cars less than 5 years old. The most popular model was the Tesla Model Y, with 2,968 units sold. This significantly exceeds the number of sold Tesla Model 3, which came in second with 1,722 units sold.

Regarding the reliability of the Tesla Model Y, issues were found with some sensors and software, leading to unintended braking and acceleration. Therefore, the software version in the car should be checked before purchasing.

2021 Model Y

This model received a record number of complaints — 929. Many of these are related to 'phantom braking' and several other serious issues. It is important to emphasize that the increased number of complaints pertains specifically to this model, so it is advisable to avoid purchasing the 2021 Model Y.

At the same Time, in the 2021 model year, 21 recalls were issued, most of which were resolved through software updates. However, there are certain problems, such as improperly secured bolts, which should be considered before purchasing.

2023 Model Y

This model experienced problems with the collision prevention system, windshield shattering in hot weather, and the failure of wipers.

2022 Model Y

The model received 732 complaints regarding issues with cameras, unintended acceleration and braking, collisions, and brake failure.

Ukrainians are increasingly choosing used cars, particularly the Tesla Model Y. Although this model is popular, various years of release have revealed different issues that should be considered before purchasing. The recommendation is to avoid buying the 2021 Model Y due to the high number of complaints and to carefully check the condition of the car, especially if it is less than 5 years old.
