An official inauguration ceremony for President Alexander Lukashenko took place in Minsk today. During the festivities, the head of state took an oath, received a certificate, and officially began his next presidential term.
This is already the seventh inauguration in Lukashenko's political career, whom the international community traditionally considers an authoritarian leader. He recently won the elections in January 2025, which has triggered significant international criticism.
'Half of the world dreams of Belarusian dictatorship - a dictatorship of real affairs and people's interests,' Lukashenko stated during the ceremony. He also claimed that freedom of speech and democratic principles are fully respected in Belarus.
'Everything is fine with freedom of speech here. We have more democracy than those who set themselves as a benchmark,' Lukashenko emphasized. He also assured that the Belarusian model of elections could be an international standard.
Let us also remind why Minsk is allowed to regain nuclear status, while Kyiv is not.
