Gazprom and banks under pressure: Trump's administration has developed options to pressure Putin.

The administration of US President Donald Trump has prepared a new package of economic sanctions against Russia.
This was reported by three American officials and a source with information about the situation, according to Reuters.
According to the officials, the new restrictions will affect key sectors of the Russian economy, including energy and banking.
The main target of the package is the state energy giant 'Gazprom' and large companies operating in the natural resources and finance sectors.
'The National Security Council is trying to coordinate a tougher set of punitive measures against Russia,' the source noted.
However, the final decision regarding sanctions against the Russian Federation must be made personally by President Trump.
'This is entirely his decision,' confirmed a second senior official.
Thus, the new sanctions are aimed at increasing pressure on Moscow in order to garner support from the White House in efforts to end the war with Ukraine.
Sources also reported that it is currently unknown whether the sanctions will be approved by the head of state, as his frustration with the Kremlin's actions is growing. In particular, due to Russian dictator Vladimir Putin's refusal to support the initiative for a ceasefire and peace negotiations.
'From the very beginning, the President has clearly stated his commitment to achieving a complete and comprehensive ceasefire,' added National Security Council representative James Hewitt.
However, he refused to comment on the details of the ongoing consultations.
Earlier, it was reported that Russia is concerned about the rapprochement between the USA and Ukraine after the agreement on mineral resources.
