Why is Liman so important to the Russians? The commander of the Armed Forces of Ukraine responded.

Ukrainian commander Pavlo Yurchuk reported that Russian forces are trying to encircle the city of Liman in the Donetsk region from the flanks, intending to force the Ukrainian army to retreat. According to Yurchuk, the Russians are not directly storming populated areas but plan to surround Liman from the side to control its important industrial infrastructure and use it as a logistics center.
Information from the Institute for the Study of War (ISW) confirms that the Russian military has a significant advantage in forces near Liman, outnumbering the Ukrainian military by ten times. They are also preparing extensively for an offensive in this region, concentrating significant forces to the northeast of Liman.
It is worth recalling that the Ukrainian military liberated Liman from Russian forces in October 2022. The Ukrainian army is repelling the attacks and directing efforts at revealing the Russian offensive plan and exhausting the combat potential of the enemy.
Ukraine continues to actively participate in resisting Russian aggression, defending its territory and people. The conflict has been ongoing for a long Time and poses a serious threat to the country. The Ukrainian military has demonstrated courage and bravery in the fight against the occupiers, yet the situation remains complex and unpredictable.
